Submitted by Mike Scharpp

I and Roy Gideon were up tyee, walked 2.5 miles down past the gate at the top, I finally told Roy I was going back to a little skid rode I saw, it was just to thick with pecker poles, thought I would never see anything there, so i put my 25/06 over my back and hands in pockets and started making tracks to get to a nob I had seen before, 7:00 surely going to see something from the opening on the nob, I went about 50 yards when , I couldn't believe my eyes this huge muley jumped off the side hill right onto the road, about 80 yards away,There was no doubt this baby was a legal, he walked across the road to the edge, didn't even see me, I struggled my gun off my back, and just then he turned and looked at me, I knew that was it, shoot now!!! so I pulled up and all I had time for was to see side in my scope, no time to aim , I pulled the trigger, he jumped off the edge of the road into the thickest pecker poles you'll ever see, I ran up the road , damn I yelled to Roy , I shot over his back, couldn't see him, 10 minutes passed, running back and forth on the road hoping to catch a glimpse of him, nothing, about to give up , I told Roy I would go down and side hill it , maybe he's still there, I was crossing the side hill when I heard a crash , pulled up my rifle maybe to get a shot, I saw him jump, and then he fell face first, I ran down and there he was , lying on his back mouth full of pine needles, beautiful huge and dove 70 yards off the hill into the thickness, well all and all it took myself and Roy 2 hours to get him back to the road, a couple fire fighters from Kent had a trailer on a motorcycle and hauled it and me to the truck, I'm having it mounted 5 point, 4 with the countable eye guards , Tubs Taxidermy is doing it for me, 154 lbs after boning, and it doesn't even taste like deer, no gamey at all, gotta love that, man my fingers are tired, talk to you soon Mike Scharpp see ya, oh I'll send a picture of the mount when I get it next year
