Alcohol:This year like last year, we will be selling beer and wine. The decision to do the following method is the strong recommendation of the Liquor Control Board. Tickets must be purchased and then exchanged for beer or wine.
Help Needed:Again, we will need a lot of folks to help set up throughout the day. However, most of the help will be needed at 5:00pm to man the games. We will need folks to relieve the others throughout the early evening. Areas of help are ticket sales, games, beer and wine sales, food servers and runners. Most of all, we need lots to help clean up.
Lifetime Members:If we can get 5 or more people signed up as lifetime members there will be a raffle for them.
Department Report:Bob Perleberg passed on some information that might be of interest to some of you. The Blue Mountain black bear hunt applications and licenses and tags will be available January 1, 2002 and are due no later than midnight on March 10, 2002. The season runs from April 15 to May 31, 2002. Our new District Wildlife Biologist is Baau Patterson. He invites you to stop by his office and introduce yourself.
General lowland lake fishing opens Saturday, April 27. Current hunting and fishing licenses are valid through March 31, 2002 and you can purchase new licenses now at any license dealer. It is mandatory to report the harvest or non-harvest of deer, elk, bear and turkey. It can be done toll free or by internet. Be sure you know the Game Management Unit that you hunted or bagged any of the above animals.
January Program:We would like to thank Gordon Congdon for an excellent report on the function and advantages of the Chelan-Douglas County land trust. It sounds like those individuals who put their private land into the trust are looking out for wildlife as well as eliminating development of said properties.
March Program:We have one of two possible programs for March. One is a video made of a seminar Tom McCall attended on "Hunter Ethics" and the second is a video Tom Lewis made while bugling an elk in during his muzzleloader hunt.
Club History Information:The club is looking for any history, old or recent so it can be compiled. The Wenatchee Sportsman Association was started in 1928 and was incorporated May 6, 1949. Those signing the article of corporation were Harry Padoshek, Larry E. Erickson, Robert L. Lake, W.M. Talbott, Glenn Webster, L.B. Jagla, A.R. Troppman and Fred N. Nimtzer. How many of these gentlemen area still alive???? And we wonder how strong they thought the club would be some 53 years later. Any other club history get it to a member so it can be compiled. Thanks.
