Stemil Basin Clean Up:Matt Gutzwiler asked and got a resounding vote of approval to do another Stemilt Basin and up the hill clean up day for the first Saturday in June. Thanks to Matt and wife Cindy and all the volunteers last spring. We filled 3 large dumpsters and hauled out 4 or 5 abandoned autos.
Pete Lopushinsky Says Thanks:Pete wishes to thank all of the volunteers who helped get 20 tons of fertilizer to the Colockum Airport. Special thanks to Todd West and crew, Terry Smart and the Alcoa crew. Working in the cold, windy weather they were able to dump 500 lbs. in a hopper. It was neat to watch it be air lifted by the helicopter and spread on the reserve. 30 volunteers made it fun by doing whatever was necessary to make the job easy for all. Next time our wind break and food services (if we have any) will be moved to the other side of the airstrip - away from the prop dust and prevailing winds. By the way Neil, you may have to move over, there is a new cook in town. Chuck Largent cooked up two delicious pots - one of chili and the other sloppy Joes. Thanks Chuck for your excellent cooking. Pete also reports that as soon as corn harvest starts in the Basin he will fill feeders in the Tarpiscan and Lower Colockum. Contact Pete at 663-6260 or Bill Stegeman at 663-7529 if you want to help.
Department Report:: Beau Patterson is requesting any hunter who has a successful hunt (late hunt or archery) in the Chiwawa G.M.U. 245 to contact him.
