General Meeting: October 9, 2006 Cedars Inn
Motel - 7:00pm (Traffic light @ corner
of Hwy 28 & 9th St.)
Meeting Site and Time: Just a reminder we
are still meeting at the Cedars Inn in East Wenatchee and start time is 7:00pm
Newsletter Information: As the one who types, gets the newsletter printed and mailed I want to apologize for having to get information from secretary Bill early thus maybe missing some items that could have been in it this month. I have to get all my work done prior to being out of town for several weeks having surgery and didn’t want to miss getting your mailing out.
Meat Coolers: As we move into the cooler weather it stimulates our hunting desires to locate and bag big game animals. We again put out the request for donated wild game meat. Contact Ron Bruno at 884-9369 or 679-9076. We also have coolers available at Ron’s and at Neil Fulwiler’s (663-9076) and George Komro (884-5359)
Game Meat: There is the continued call for wild game meat. If you or someone you know wish to donate
any wild game meat call Ron Bruno at 884-9369.
Ron would also like some names and phone numbers of individuals who’ll
pick up and / or process wild game when Ron’s at work.
Game Feed Meeting: A game feed meeting is being planned and all the help possible is
needed as well as your thoughts and ideas.
If interested call Gene Robard at 662-6277 for particulars. Also mark your calendars for the date of the
feed being February 12th and the site is Apple Annie’s in Cashmere.
Department Report: Amy reports on the following: Currently there won’t be a steelhead fishing
season on the upper Columbia unless more fish come over the dam at Priest
Rapids.
It will be awhile before the new green dot
maps are available so hang on to the old ones as there aren’t many old ones
available.
The mandatory report of deer, elk, turkey
and bear (early hunts) can’t report their kill until sometime in October.
There was ˝
inch of snow on Jump Off on 9/15/06 – a blessing for our fire situations
with this moisture coming in.
Shaun Woods (Douglas County shoreline
meetings) may need our support at the October 25th meeting. He and Bob Steele are getting a lot of
pressure to allow development of prime habitat lands along the Columbia. More on this at our meeting.
As always, read and understand the
regulations, seek to hunt on and respect private property and be super careful
with fires as dangerous conditions will continue this fall.
Call Amy if you have any other concerns or
questions.
September Program Thank You: Many thanks to Beau Patterson for the hunting prospects for the
up-coming season. The group kept him on
the floor for quite awhile.
October Program: Jerry Gutzwiler – our local WDFW commissioner is open to answer
most any question you have concerning the Department. However, there may be some sensitive topics he may not be able to
respond to. Something we need to do is
call Jerry at 665-0687, Ron Bruno at 884-9269 or Bill Stegeman at 663-7529 and state your questions or concerns
and they can be passed on to Jerry.
This will allow him time to research some answers if need be.
Upcoming “Little Big Horn
Show: The club will be looking for a location for
the Horn Show as the Cedars Inn isn’t large enough. There is some possibility the show may not be held since the turn
out has been so small the past couple years.
Lets all try to talk this up and get more heads and a bigger turn out as
this is something that really should be of interest to us all.
HAVE A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL HUNTING SEASON THIS FALL
AND WINTER

President Bill
Stegeman – Secretary
