General Meeting: October 21, 2008 7:00pm Steel Workers Hall – 180 Rock
Island Road – East Wenatchee
Meat Coolers: As we move into the cooler weather it stimulates our hunting desires to locate and bag big game animals. We again put out the request for donated wild game meat. Contact Ron Bruno at (884-9369 or 679-9076). We also have coolers available at Ron’s and at Neil Fulwiler’s (663-9076) and George Komro (884-5359)
Exotic Game Meat: On a prearranged approval, the Sportsman’s Association will
purchase exotic wild game meat from an individual. This has been done on game meat flown in from a distant place. We
pay the freight only on the amount of meat needed, which is usually around 40
to 60 lbs.
Committee Meetings: It is that time of the year when we need to start thinking of the
2009 Game Feed. Thus Gene Robards at
(662-6277) has started scheduling such meetings. The first one was held Oct. 7 and others will be coming up. Your help is needed and appreciated. Give Gene a call if interested in helping.
Work Parties: With the hunting season upon us, work
parties have been put on hold until the first of November. There is a feeder to be built, feeders to
fill and a little road brushing to do.
There is a major bitterbrush planting scheduled for Oct. 25th
on Birch Mountain. We will meet at the
Department Office at 7:30am Saturday the 25th. Contact Ron Poppe (662-3957) or Bill
Stegeman (663-7529 or 393-9528) if you can help.
Department Report: We don’t have anything of major interest
that should be printed in the newsletter at this time. So, always read and understand the
regulations, seek to hunt on and respect private property. Always keep camp fires under control if they
are allowed.
Volunteers: Continue to record your volunteer miles and
hours and pass them on to Ron Poppe (662-3957). As of September 22 volunteers have donated 4,300 hours to the
Department. Those seeking “Master
Hunter” hours contact Ron Poppe.
Money Spent: The membership voted at the September
meeting to purchase a portable water pump for club use and a dart gun for our
local enforcement personnel. We had one
stipulation and that being the dart gun be used in this area only.
Help Needed: There is a need for one or more members to help solicit donations
for our game feed in February. You can
contact Gene Robards at (662-6277).
October Program: Ron Fox will give a report on the Bebee Springs project.
HAVE A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL HUNTING SEASON THIS FALL
AND WINTER
