General Meeting:Sept 8th, 2003 ,at Eagles Lodge - 7:30pm

Welcome Sportsmen, To Another Year Of Outdoor Activities, Interests and TogethernessWe Hope You Had A Great Summer And Are Looking Forward To All Of Your Outdoor Activities Between Now And Next Fall!

Early Call For Game Meat:We are always on the lookout for wild game meat, exotic or otherwise. The club will pay the freight on any wild game donated to the club. There have been a few bear taken locally, so if you know of someone who doesn't want the meat, give Ron Bruno 884-9369 a call. We are looking for one or two members to be available to receive calls concerning donated wild game meat. Contact Ron if interested. As you may or may not know, Irv Garney and his wife have moved to the Vancouver / Portland area to live nearer to one of their children. Their move was brought about by Irv's failing health. Thanks Irv for the many years of dedicated service to the club and your unconditional love to prepare wild game meat. We miss you greatly!!

Clean Up Day:A special thanks goes to Matt Gutzwiler and his wife for organizing the Stemilt Basin clean up day. The volunteers filled 3 huge dumpsters and had 4 or 5 auto hulks hauled out. Many, many thanks go out to the many outdoor clubs, banner makers, refreshment providers and others who helped make that day a success. Several hundred hours and miles driven were donated to this worthy cause. Thanks to all who helped.

Membership:: If you haven't renewed your membership, our next meeting would be an ideal time to do so. Currently a lifetime membership is $250.00. Late last winter there was discussion about raising that amount so now would be a good time to purchase in case it does increase in the future..

Meeting Dates:Mark your calendar for the following meeting dates.
 Oct. 13  Jan. 12  April 12
Nov. 10  Feb. 9 (Game Feed)  May 10
Dec. 8 (Horn Show)  Mar. 8  June 14

Web Page:: Our web page is still functioning well. To log on, type in www.ncwoutdoors.com and click down to our club information. Ron Bruno welcomes any outdoor activity information for the web page.

Work Party:: There are at least two feeders to be built this fall (after fire season subsides). Pete will fill feeders in the Colockum / Tarpiscan area shortly after corn harvest starts in the Basin which should be mid to late Oct. and Tom usually fills feeders in the Swakane / Chelan Butte area after the first of November. Volunteers and pickups are always welcome.

Department Report:: Remember, Bob Perleberg can't sell licenses at this office as of July 1. They must be purchased at a licensed dealer like Hooked-on-Toys, Save Mart, Big 5 etc. The new upland game / water fowl pamphlet will be out the 1st or 2nd week of September. The upper Columbia (above Priest Rapid Dam) will remain open to Chinook salmon fishing until Oct. 15. Bob has a blue sheet with all of the information concerning salmon fishing on the upper Columbia. Bob has a large selection of free pamphlets and magazines abut various fish and wildlife for both adults and youths. You should check them out. Tom McCall (665-3391) will be needing volunteers to help release pheasants in late Sept. and again in late Oct. and Nov. Always seek permission to hunt on private property.

Fire Danger:Enough can not be said as to how serious the fire danger is now and throughout most of our hunting season. We always must be conscious of the potential of fire danger when in the outdoors. Bob Perleberg has several copies on road closures in Chelan County. At current fire danger Level 2, you can access to public land for legitimate purpose / use. Hunting is a legitimate reason to access public land.

Program:We will have the usual "Hunting Prospects" for fall and winter by either Beau Patterson or Tom McCall. Following their report, a member from the Chelan / Douglas County Drug Force will speak to us about drug and drug paraphernalia including abandoned meth labs. We feel this is an issue of great importance to those who spend a lot of time out doors. Please invite another member or a friend. We all need to be educated.
