New Year Begins: We hope you had a fun summer
and are ready for another year of informational and educational
meetings. There has been a staff change
in our Department Office. Beau Patterson
and Tom McCall resigned in July. Beau will
be employed by Douglas County PUD and Tom took a similar job in
Reminder of
Freighted Meat: On a
prearranged approval, the Sportsman’s Association will purchase exotic wild
game meat from an individual. This has
been done on game meat flown in from a distant place. We pay the freight only on the amount of meat
needed, which is usually around 40 to 60 lbs.

Early Call For Game Meat: Ron Bruno, as always, is looking for wild
game meat. There are coolers at Neil Fulwiler (663-9076) and Ron Bruno (884-9369) as well as at
George Komro, located at 1570 Tedford
(884-5359). Ron has also made
arrangements with Fred Perry of Eastmont Custom Meats
to receive donated and / or emergency wild game meat that is locker ready
(skinned and clean). You can contact
Fred at 884-3777.

Department Report: Amy reports water fowl and upland game season
pamphlets will be out the last week of August.
Forest grouse opens September 1.
“Youth only” hunt for quail and pheasant opens September 22-23.
Fish and Wildlife Commission is considering a
new WAC code titled, Land Use Rule.
The rule proposal addresses issues like camping, parking, shooting,
pets, commercial activity and etc.
Considered approval is planned at its Oct. 12-13 meeting in Olympia.
Enough cannot be said on how serious the fire
danger is. You are being asked again to
be extremely careful when out in the woods.
Always visualize where your catalytic burner is when parking in the
outdoors and also, be careful with campfires.
Chinook salmon fishing on the upper Columbia
River runs through October 15.
High buck hunts for deer starts September 15th. Check with forest service for possible road
closure due to forest fires.
Game Feed Help Needed: Our game feed committee is looking for one or
two individuals who are willing to help solicit donations for our February 11,
2008 game feed. If interested contact
Gene Robards at 662-6277.
Program: Cindy Confer, Whiskey Dick / L.T. Murray
Wildlife Manager, will be our September program. She’ll do a power point presentation on the Colockum elk herd movement when they are influenced and not
influenced by man kind.
